The Leader is The Message

It's been a long time since the last time I went to the business leadership series in my university.

There was a talk by Dr. John Lau yesterday which I had attended.

Dr. John Lau is the International President of Toastmasters International (2012-2013).

What is a leader?
A leader is the person who support, encourage and also inspire people.

How to grow a leader?
The competency skills are the skills we need to have to become a leader.
1. Integrity
- It is the most important skill we need to have.
- You need to do as what you said and promised.
- With integrity, our dreams will never die.

2. Respect people (everyone)
- We also need to be self respect.
- We should celebrate our failure. This is because in failure, we learn the fruit of success so that we could be a better person.

3. Service people
- We need to have the communication skill to service people.

4. Excellence
- It is about the goal. Excellence is not just to achieve the goal but to surpass it.

What we need to have to be a great leader?
1. The right strategies.
2. The right mentors to help us. No matter they are younger or older than us.
3. Measure performance. Always measure our progress and engaged with what you do.
4. Getting connected to the rest of the world to be employ.

Lastly, the interesting point I got from him is
manage the priority, not the time.

It will never be wasting of time to attend his talk instead I will be regret if I did not attend to his talk.
